 “Community Collects”

The art in the homes, museums and business of the northeast-

A special exhibit at Wyalusing’s Blue Heron Gallery-

June 21 to August 2, 2010

The Blue Heron Gallery would like to invite you to participate in a show that is being organized this summer.  We are endeavoring to showcase the art in collections of families, museums and business in the northeast region of Pennsylvania and southern New York State.  We think this will be a wonderful opportunity for you the collector to share the vision of the artists whose work you own.  The exhibit will also offer the public a view of the artistic diversity and creativity over the years, which comprises and identity and expression of the region.

The gallery has works insured while they are on the premises and every effort is taken to insure the safety and condition of the artwork.

To participate in this exhibit please select some choice examples in your collection and bring your art to the gallery between June 14 and 18th during the gallery hours, 9 to noon and 1 to 4:30.  If you need to deliver after hours, please make an appointment.  In some cases we may be able to pick up and deliver.  If you are a member/supporter of the gallery there will be a $10 entry fee for up to (three works per collector,) for non-members the fee is $15.

Works can be for sale if you wish, in which case the gallery retains a 20% commission.

We are planning to have an opening reception for the collectors, which is open to the community on Thursday, June 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. with light refreshments.  The opening will include a special story telling and sharing by the collectors of the history and provenance of the paintings.  This promises to be an enjoyable evening where many fascinating details and anecdotes about selected works of art are revealed and reflected upon by the attendees.

Please contact us at your earliest convenience to indicate your participation.

To Artists and Poets/

The Blue Heron is presenting the fourth and completing segment
of a series of exhibits featuring the elements. This upcoming show promises
to be an engaging theme that will be inclusive of many genres of art, but
still, with a focus on the landscape.  The theme of Earth, should suggest
that all expressions regarding our land, and environment will be
entertained.  As with the earlier exhibit on air (The Sky Above US), we tied
the show in with Al Gore¹s Book, ³An Inconvenient Truth.²  The upcoming show
will continue with that ecology-minded purpose with a subtext of artists
expressing concerns with stewardship and preserving valuable resources and
the beauty of rural America.

There will be a special opening on Friday, August 27 with poetry
reading, music and special culinary delights as with past shows.  A catalog
will again be produced that will beautifully illustrate the art along with
the poems. A special ceremony to honor the earth is also in the works for
the opening weekend as well.

Poets may submit up to five works relating to the theme.  Please
send your work to the curator/editor, Brian Keeler at bkeeler@epix.net by
July 15, 2010. A $20 fee should be mailed in by the same date and made
payable to "Blue Heron Earth Show".

Painters and visual artists may also submit up to five works and
have their work submitted with j-pegs and also e-mailed to the same address.
The fee for visual artist is $30 also payable to ³Blue Heron Earth Show.
Delivery date for accepted work will be no later than Monday, August 23 at
noon.  All work must be labeled on the back with price, title and medium. A
submission form is available on our web site to complete as well.  The
gallery retains a 20% commission.

Looking forward to your participation.
